Friends,
My mom told me a story once which I would like to share with u all......
This dates back to the time when I was in my nappies :).....I was having my lunch and the menu read :-'over-boiled rice and parshemach bhaja'......as I was nibbling using my newly acquired molars, I saw another gulp nearning my mouth and I uttered my first ever words...."mukhe ache"....
That was the time I first spoke but way before that I had started talking....silently!
Ever since we gained senses we have been talking...to each other and to ourselves....lets keep aside the 'talk to ourselves' to ourselves only... :)......Muted Talks is about the second case of talking that we do with each other without uttering anything.....everyday we go to new places, meet new faces..and our minds react to all those images differently at different point of times...but those reactions always remains confined to ourselves mostly unattended and ignored.....why not share them friends?......I would like to pioneer the process by sharing a daily experience of mine...
MT1(Muted Talk 1) : I take the 8:46am metro from Tollygange everyday to go to my office at Central.....blame it to knack for a fixed routine, I always board the same compartment, always try to get the same seat and always try to find the same faces in the nearby seats....this MT is between me and one of those faces. From Kalighat station, a handicapped boy in his early twenties boards the train...he also has a favourite seat of his and after placing himself comfortably, he also searches for familier faces and I know I am one of those faces..........this lad has a defective left leg...he walks with great difficulty......there are separate seats for the handicapped but he never seats there...if other seats are unavailable he prefers standing....I like his dressing sense and his hairstyle........
Throughout the journey we exchange eyes several times.......at about 9:06am the train reaches Central....both of us getoff......I take the first escalator that comes on the way while he takes the following escalator...by the time I get to the next storey and reach the second escalator, he has already reached there and here starts the climax of this MT.....before reaching the terminal stairs that takes one out of this underground station, there is a long stretch of passage that has to be walked.........we exchange eyes a final time and the race to the terminal begins...since he had taken the second escalator, he already gains quite a fair distance from me........we have never spoken or exchanged a facial expression....but I know he wants to beat me but never does!!...even at a very slow pace I overtake him each and every day.....sometimes I play the Evil by deliberately walking very slowly to give him that hope and ultimately speed up to overtake him handsomely!....As we cross each other, he looks at me once but I never reciprocate...and thus ends the MT for the day..... :)
Friends,....please feel free to share your MTs as well.... :)
